Hotlist: That's my president!

Some quotes from President Obama that I just really like! Not in any order, although the first one and the last one are probably my favorites.

“I did. It's not something that I'm proud of. It was a mistake as a young man, but you know? I mean not going to--I never understood that line. The point was to inhale. That was the point.”

“What Washington needs is adult supervision.”

“Faith is not just something you have, it's something you do.”

“Spend time actually talking to Americans and you discover that most evangelicals are more tolerant than the media would have us believe, and most secularists more spiritual. Most rich people want the poor to succeed, and most of the poor are both more self-critical and hold higher aspirations than the popular culture allows.”

“The fact that my 15 minutes of fame has extended a little longer than 15 minutes is somewhat surprising to me and completely baffling to my wife.”

“There is not a liberal America and a conservative America--there is the United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America--there's the United States of America.”

“This union may never be perfect, but generation after generation has shown that it can always be perfected.”

“There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.”

“In the end, no amount of American forces can solve the political differences that lie at the heart of somebody else's civil war.”

“We should never forget that God granted us the power to reason so that we would do His work here on Earth--so that we would use science to cure disease, and heal the sick, and save lives.”

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

“We can't have a situation in which the corporate duopoly dictates the future of the internet and that's why I'm supporting what is called net neutrality.”

“Hope--Hope in the face of difficulty. Hope in the face of uncertainty. The audacity of hope! In the end, that is God’s greatest gift to us; the bedrock of this nation. A belief in things not seen. A belief that there are better days ahead.”

“Nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.”

me - wtf?

One of the ladies at church, Nancy, is a nutritionist. I talked with her a little after Sunday school, and she and I are going to sit down and work out a really good and hopefully easy diet for me to follow.

Nancy also turned me on to free diabetes education classes at TWU.

So, this is all good.
