Waterfalls
It's almost like there are these periods where our relationship is smooth and steady, and then there are times when it's like standing on the edge of this gorgeous, wonderful waterfall and just letting yourself drop, knowing that there's a safe pool of water ready to catch you at bottom. You take the plunge and you're in wayyyy over your head, but oh man, it's exhilarating, it's breathtaking, it's just incredible and you feel better than you ever have before and the water is cool and refreshing and exactly what you needed.

Sam is my waterfall.

5 things meme

Snarfed from griffen

List 5 things which are basic common knowledge in your culture, which people outside are unfamiliar with. This is not about obscurity, but something everyday to you, that others go "bzuh?" at.

So, this is about Texas stuff.

1) If you order tea, it comes in a glass, and it is iced, and you must specify "sweet" or "unsweet". If you want a steaming cuppa, you have to order "hot tea".

2) High school football is THE premier sport in most of Texas, with more loyal fans than the NFL teams have.

3) Austin TX is widely agreed to be the music capital of the world.

4) Texas is not, under the law, a legal member of the 50 states. Texas was annexed via a joint resolution of Congress, after an invasion by the US which forced Texas to become a part of the US, and in 1861 the people of Texas, by a HUGE majority, voted to NOT become a US state.

5) Dr Pepper was invented in Waco, TX, and can be found in every restaurant in the state, near as I can tell.

Gee...the more I think about it, the more I have no idea what would make people go, "Bzuh?" in my life.
I mean, it says, "...basic common knowledge in your culture," so doing personal things is kinna out (me-stuff would make people double-take, but I'm not a one-person culture!)...
Sci-fi culture? Hell, we can't agree on the color of Wookiee shit, let alone which order to watch the Star Wars Saga in!
Video game culture? Same problem; which genre of game are you talking about?
Goth culture? I'm not really a part of it; they tolerate me, but they know I'm not one of 'em.
Lesbian culture? Same deal; I just don't fit. Who I love and sleep with should NOT dictate my politics, musical tastes, or wardrobe, dammit!
Atheist culture? Ehhh...one of the oft-noted traits of atheist culture is that atheists are usually rabid individualists (which is why it's so hard to get us organized!) so there isn't a lot of culture there to define.
Seattle culture? Well...I guess there's some stuff there, but that list is already online, and over 90% of my LJ list are from Seattle. Meh.

...to put it bluntly, I'm not sure I can DO this meme! Heh. ;)
