Waterfalls
It's almost like there are these periods where our relationship is smooth and steady, and then there are times when it's like standing on the edge of this gorgeous, wonderful waterfall and just letting yourself drop, knowing that there's a safe pool of water ready to catch you at bottom. You take the plunge and you're in wayyyy over your head, but oh man, it's exhilarating, it's breathtaking, it's just incredible and you feel better than you ever have before and the water is cool and refreshing and exactly what you needed.

Sam is my waterfall.

My creeds

I feel the need to make a statement about what I believe in. This is a threefold statement. The first half is a statement of faith, and it's been said so well for so long, that I am using the wording that states my faith system clearly and succinctly. The second half follows, and is also not original to me, but I sure as shit believe it. The last bit is all me.

I believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is seen and unseen.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, and not made,
one in being with the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
He came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
He was born of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered, died and was buried.
On the third day He rose again
in fulfillment of the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
From whence He shall come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and His kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son
He is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. AMEN.

I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

I believe in my husband, my children, my family and my chosen family. I believe that no human being has all the answers, that, in fact, we're all stumbling in the dark as far as it all goes, yearning for a glimmer of light to help us find our way through the maze of life. I believe that if somebody finds that light, then it shouldn't be belittled or derided or made fun of, regardless of what I think of their choice - whatever gets somebody through, whatever works for them, so long as they are not hurting other people, let them have their freedom of mind and spirit.

I believe that life is worth living, that death is something to be put off for as long as possible, even if there IS a Heaven at the end of it all. I believe that you get what you give, some may call it karma, I call it doing unto others - whatever, we all know what it means.

I believe that any sort of racism, sexism, faithism, etc is negative and there is no reason why I should have to tolerate it from anybody, regardless of how personally wounded they may feel by whatever group I or others are associated with. NO community is All Bad, and sure as hell, no community is all good. We're all just struggling along as best we can, and if you can't show your brothers and sisters in this world a little bit of kindness, you don't belong in my life.

I believe in butterflies, in little girls, and in the notebooks of Lazarus Long.

These are the things that I believe.
