...... .:::.:.:

It's almost like there are these periods where our relationship is smooth and steady, and then there are times when it's like standing on the edge of this gorgeous, wonderful waterfall and just letting yourself drop, knowing that there's a safe pool of water ready to catch you at bottom. You take the plunge and you're in wayyyy over your head, but oh man, it's exhilarating, it's breathtaking, it's just incredible and you feel better than you ever have before and the water is cool and refreshing and exactly what you needed.

Sam is my waterfall.

How weird is this?

My phone line is out, but my DSL is working just fine?

DSL. serious business.

That indicates that the problem is probably at the central office (ie the phone switch). For either to be working, the wires have to be intact.

But they use two different frequency bands, and get split at the office. The low band gone to the phone switching gear and the high band goes to a sort of super router.

Sort of like if you had one of those "wireless" intercoms that uses the wiring in the house to carry the signal. If the intercoms have battery backup, they'll work even though the power lines are down.
