It's almost like there are these periods where our relationship is smooth and steady, and then there are times when it's like standing on the edge of this gorgeous, wonderful waterfall and just letting yourself drop, knowing that there's a safe pool of water ready to catch you at bottom. You take the plunge and you're in wayyyy over your head, but oh man, it's exhilarating, it's breathtaking, it's just incredible and you feel better than you ever have before and the water is cool and refreshing and exactly what you needed.

Sam is my waterfall.

Fear and hope

So, tomorrow we find out where our country is headed for the next four years. Up or down, decent or not, and I'm scared.

I'm scared that some asshole will shoot Obama as he gives his victory speech.

I'm scared that Obama won't get the chance to make a victory speech because we'll be watching a third election in a row be illegally stolen.

I'm scared that so many people will be so disgruntled that there will be a new backlash of hate in this country aimed at anybody of African descent.

I'm scared.

And oh, so full of hope.

Get out there and vote. Please.

Borderline symptom of the day: hopefulhopeful and afraid

Is there a voting place in your town, or do you have to drive somewhere to do it?

Two blocks away. Just got done voting. People were complaining about the line. Five people waiting...

No stinkin' subject! - (Anonymous)

Good point, that.

And the secret service takes its shit seriously.

Yeah, my Mom is pretty sure that Obama will be assassinated if not before then pretty close to his inauguration day. I think there's been enough rumors going around regarding such that the secret service will have him covered so tight you can't really even see him. :) That's my hope anyway. And I'm pretty sure the first person to try will be put through hell... hopefully discouraging other attempts.

Of course, my Mom also said something which just made my skin crawl and stare at her in disbelief that she actually birthed me. That is that he should never be president because "President Obama... President Barack Obama, just how American does THAT sound?" I bit my tongue to keep myself from lashing out at her and reminding her exactly how this country got started and why it's referred to as "the melting pot". Sometimes I honestly can't believe people can think that way. Then I remember we had 8 years of Bush and well yeah, there are some really stupid folks out there voting.

Kind of insulting to call everyone who voted for Bush stupid.

Bigoted, too.

not everyone... just lots... unfortunately.

Just a word here:

If you feel like calling somebody who comments in my LJ out on something they say..

Keep it the hell out of my journal. Send them a private message.

She didn't say everybody, first off.

And personally, I think that about 90% of the people who voted Bush TWICE are absolute idiots.

I'd agree with you about the bigotry if it was about the '00 election only. But the second time around, well, that's a different story--it's not intolerance, it's statement of fact in light of the preceding events.
