It's almost like there are these periods where our relationship is smooth and steady, and then there are times when it's like standing on the edge of this gorgeous, wonderful waterfall and just letting yourself drop, knowing that there's a safe pool of water ready to catch you at bottom. You take the plunge and you're in wayyyy over your head, but oh man, it's exhilarating, it's breathtaking, it's just incredible and you feel better than you ever have before and the water is cool and refreshing and exactly what you needed.

Sam is my waterfall.

Giving thanks

This year, I have many things to be thankful for.

Sam has been clean of illicit drugs for one year now, praise God. This has made a HUGE difference in the quality of life around here.

The boys came home in June, and life is back to normal.

Amy came for a visit during the summer and it was fantastic. And she's coming again in two weeks!

Amy finished high school!

We found a new church home, one that we love, with good folks and since it's Methodist, LOTS of potlucks!

It's been one year since the most toxic person in my life absented herself from my sphere. So much less stress!

My sister had a housefire in which nobody, not even her cats, was injured, and while she's had to rebuild, it has turned out to be a nifty project in which she has been able to do some home modifications that will make the place better than ever.

My boys are thriving in school.

I have two new bestest friends, Kris and Tori, who make my days a sheer delight, encourage me, and make me laugh.

Everybody I love has survived another year.

For all this, and for everything in my life, I give thanks to God.
