It's almost like there are these periods where our relationship is smooth and steady, and then there are times when it's like standing on the edge of this gorgeous, wonderful waterfall and just letting yourself drop, knowing that there's a safe pool of water ready to catch you at bottom. You take the plunge and you're in wayyyy over your head, but oh man, it's exhilarating, it's breathtaking, it's just incredible and you feel better than you ever have before and the water is cool and refreshing and exactly what you needed.

Sam is my waterfall.

Guitar Hero - Mea Culpa

Okay. I hate to eat crow, but when I should, I do.

Some time ago I posted a rant about how stupid and insipid Guitar Hero and Rock Band were. Pretend guitar stars, etc.

So. The kids got Guitar Hero World Tour for Christmas. Yes, I bowed down and bought it.

And DAMN, dudes, this is FUN!

So, to all those who I insulted with my idiotic opinion.. I'm sorry, and I Get It! It's FUN!

I got Legends of Rock. I can only play twenty minutes at a time before my fingers cease to fing, but it's fuuuun. Nothing like channeling Pat Benatar and rocking out to "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". But I do want World Tour, because I want the microphone.

I had to be dragged kicking and screaming into it, too.

But I ended up really liking it when my friends, Dana and Gina sat me down and made me play with them.

I even (*gasp*) sang. And I was surprisingly good at it for someone with no vocal training to speak of.

We're actually a Top-20 band on at least one cut ("Witch Hunt" by Rush), and I'm inordinately proud of that fact. ;-)

BTW, that userpic is my Rock Band avatar, Eliza.

haha, welcome to the Dark Side! I, too, thought Rock Band was a waste of time until my son bought it. We had so much fun with it, we took it with us to a family reunion this summer. Wow! It was so cool to see the teens & pre-teens (and some of their folks!) who don't know each other too well playing Rock Band together.

The family that plays together, stays together...
