Waterfalls
It's almost like there are these periods where our relationship is smooth and steady, and then there are times when it's like standing on the edge of this gorgeous, wonderful waterfall and just letting yourself drop, knowing that there's a safe pool of water ready to catch you at bottom. You take the plunge and you're in wayyyy over your head, but oh man, it's exhilarating, it's breathtaking, it's just incredible and you feel better than you ever have before and the water is cool and refreshing and exactly what you needed.

Sam is my waterfall.

Scratchie!

So, Connor, my chiweenie.

He was this terrified little abused thing when we got him last year. Afraid of everything.

Now he's very boisterous and outgoing, love and patience have made a huge difference for this dog.

I just woke up from my nap and he bounced onto my chest and pawed at my face.. and clawed my eyelid. Ow. It's bleeding. :(

Oh no! and on the eyelid-ouch.

I'd guess his exuberance was part of why he got abused. And that's rough to get punished for who you are--even if you're a chiweenie.

I don't know anything about how to train a dog, but I wonder if there isn't some way you'd be able to train him to at least not paw at your face. I have no idea how one would do that though. Seems now that he's comfortable in his home, he needs some training & guidance. You've probably tried...though I'd say-don't give up!

What might soothe a scratch on the eyelid--aloe sap (from the actual plant) maybe? Hope it's ok.
